Hiring staff is likely one of the most critical steps to ensuring success in your business. The interview process can be daunting as we contemplate bringing in this often complete stranger to our organization where they will have access to many (and sometimes all) aspects of our business. In a small organization where you, the owner/operator, are sometimes the only person who conducts this critical process, it gets especially tricky. If you have ever experienced hiring someone you were 100% positive was the right candidate only to learn after months of training and lost resources of time and money that he or she was not a fit you can appreciate why this task of building a team can be so difficult. You may enlist the assistance of your staff to help you with this decision but is it really just a second opinion you are looking for? Or would you prefer to have that second opinion come from someone that can provide invaluable insight into who this candidate is and if they would be a fit in your company?

I began using a personality assessment tool in my business years ago that has literally transformed how I hire and resulted in dramatically less turnover and a simply awesome team. I experienced True Colours myself at a seminar in 1997 and believed in it so much I became a certified facilitator. I initially used it with my own staff and with business clients to provide a way to better understand each other and our customers. It wasn’t until a few years ago I decided to start using it in my interview process. It took a little extra time (about another hour) but the payoff was amazing. I was able to glean such insight into this individual that may become an important part of my organization. The 2nd Interview Process:

I begin by conducting the True Colours personality assessment tool with you (or your manager, or whoever will be in charge of hiring). This will give you a clear idea of the process I’ll be using with your potential hires (and you’ll love all the cool stuff you’ll learn about yourself). We’ll also spend some time discussing your business and who your ideal candidate is. This will help me to focus on what is important to you during the True Colours assessment. After the “second interviews” we’ll sit down and review the results. Location of interviews is up to you…it can be at your place of business, a local coffee shop, or at my office in Tsawwassen.

Cost and time commitment:

$550: includes owner/manager assessment plus assessment and review for one candidate. Each additional candidate is $150.

Initial meeting: 1.5-2 hrs

2nd interview: 1 hr

Follow up review: 1 hr

True Colours Workshop for your staff:

True Colours is the ultimate team building experience.  It improves communication, highlights strengths and identifies challenges for each personality type, and gives each staff member a greater understanding of the people they work with.  The workshop is fun and dynamic and provides a tool your team can use in both their professional and personal lives.

$450: Approx. 2.5-3 hr workshop.  Cost includes basic supplies of paper/pens/assessment.  (additional costs would be refreshments, photocopies of additional True Colours resources, travel costs*)
