It Is Our Light, Not Our Darkness, That Most Frightens Us.

(Marianne Williamson)

It all started in Grade 11. We had an astrologer come to our psychology class to read our astrological charts, hoping to glean some insight into which career would best suit us. He seemed rather perplexed with my chart, having never seen anyone so evenly split down the middle between a career in business or a career in service (specifically counseling – coaching wasn’t a thing in the 80’s). Little did I know how the two would align throughout my life…

In the past 25 years, through all the ups and downs, I managed to:

successfully sell two businesses I had built from the ground up,

fight through thyroid cancer and come out with a smile on my face

keep my marriage in-tact after a couple of shaky seasons, and

grow my coaching business beyond my wildest dreams!

About Coaching

What I’ve learned through my own journey as a coach since 2005 is that what I longed for and I believe what my clients long for now was someone that got me, someone that had the ability to mirror me as my best and most real self.

The “I see you” moment in Avatar sent tears streaming down my face. I believe it’s what we all truly desire and actually require in order to show up authentically in this world.

Do I need to have been exactly in your shoes to relate to your situation? Nope.

But I probably have in some form or certainly had a client with similar struggles. Over the years, I have experienced many challenges and gratefully many successes.

As coaches, we are told we must “live it to give it” so here’s some areas of struggle I am all too familiar with and have managed to find the light on the other side:

life while being a small business owner

the ebb and flow of a 25+ year marriage

family/work/me balance while raising a teenager

scars from my past; health scares (cancer survivor)

mental health issues with family and close friends

constant search for purpose

chronic pain, money hell, anxiety

The list goes on…

I must admit… although I have found the light through these struggles, it seems to be on a dimmer switch. Thankfully, I can now pull from my coaching tools and crank that dial up much faster than before.

I believe so deeply that this somewhat new field of coaching is a gift to our broken world. Imagine if each of us were able to share our true selves in a safe place, dissolve limiting beliefs that hold us back from living the life we always dreamed of, and find our purpose thru inquiry, support, and love? Wow, what a world this could be…

So There It Is… Now You Know My Full Story.

My guilty pleasure meal? Truffle popcorn and red wine!

Sun or shade? Feeling warm sun on my face is worth a wrinkle or two.
